Overcoming Adversity: Celebrating Schumann and Women in Music

September 13th 2019 is the 200th birthday of Clara Schumann. A famous and influential composer and pianist during the Romantic period, she was one of the first women to enter the Western Art Music Canon. College residents Ché Monsiegneur and Saskia Willinge have organised a concert on Friday night to commemorate this occasion, and to celebrate women in music in general.

The concert will be a special ‘Folk Night’ style evening and all are welcome to attend. Musicians from both St George’s and from the UWA Conservatorium of Music will play on the night, performing works either composed or arranged by women, over a range of genres and periods – not just classical music!

Refreshments will be served, so booking is required for catering purposes. Click the button below to register.

All are welcome at this free event - we hope to see you there.
