The Talison Lithium scholarship recipients for 2018, Luke Broekman, Joel Crossing and Declan Smeed, were treated to a trip down to Talison Lithium's Greenbushes mine site for a tour of the plant and site. Construction of the new processing plants was well underway and the College residents were able to see it all from a vantage point on the hillside above. The step-by-step tour of the internals of one of the current plants also gave them an insight into the process of taking rocks with spodumene deposits and refining the Lithium within.
We are very appreciative of the scholarships provided by Talison Lithium, which are awarded to country students from the South West (Talison Lithium's area of operation) and enrolled at UWA in mining related studies.
It was a great day and particular thanks must go to General Manager of Talison Lithium’s Greenbushes Operations Pat Scallan, Public Relations Officer Debbie Walsh, and Senior Accountant Ben Tong who drove everyone down to Greenbushes and back on the day - quite a feat in itself, and much appreciated.
