St George’s College Photography Competition Exhibition was held in conjunction with the UWA Open Day on Sunday 4 August. The competition is one of the largest High School Photography competitions in WA. It has continued to strengthen since its launch 4 years ago, with past entrants entering again, and many submitting multiple entries for the competition this year.
The theme for this year is “ACTION”. The submissions showcased a renewed interest the medium of photography and the growing talent across the state.
To prove it is not just luck but talent, last year’s winner, Amelia Hunt, has won first prize again with her piece “A.mbitious D.aring H.ubris D.ifferent”.
Well done to all entrants and congratulations to the prize winners.
The results from the High School division are:
1. First prize: Amelia Jane Hunt’s “A.mbitious D.aring H.ubris D.ifferent” (Duncraig Senior High)
2. Second prize: Keiran Pirie’s “Bruno Mars In Concert” (Kinross College)
3.Third prizes: a. Abbey Galbraith’s “ I love the Beach” (Living Waters Lutheran College)
b. Kye Yeoh-Ellerton’s “Missing in Action” (Carey Baptist College)
c. Daniel Kurian’s “To the Rescue” (Carey Baptist College)
4. Highly Commended – these entries will receive an encouragement prize for their submission.

The competition was judged by photographer Christina Hassell. She was impressed with the creative interpretation of the theme and the quality of the entries. St George’s College is proud to exhibit photographs produced by young WA photographers and look forward to hosting future exhibitions.
